Built in 1909, the Tabarka was deliberately sunk in Burra Sound in 1944 as an obstruction to submarines. She now rests upside in an area swept by strong currents.

Access to the interior is gained through numerous holes, once inside the visibility is almost always good. Most of the machinery (engine, boilers, propshaft) is still in place, hanging above the diver.

This wreck gives us one of the densest concentrations of marine life in Scapa Flow. The fish towards the bottom of the picture is a ballan wrasse, those above are saithe.
